FAQ’s

Below are some answers to Frequently Asked Questions. If you have a question not covered here, please let us know.

Q: What kind of Yoga mat do I need to practice yoga?
A: A yoga mat, 1-2 Yoga blocks (if you don’t own Yoga blocks, a couple of thick coffee table books will work), and a yoga strap (or a long belt). Not all mats are created alike, so if you have sensitive knees and/or are new to yoga, I would look for a thicker mat. There are are lots of options. If you tend to sweat, or worry about sliding, I recommend a sticky yoga mat. Some different options can be found on Amazon. Here are some links to get you started (links coming soon).

  • I practice with a Jade Sticky Mat
  • If you need extra thickness, and are just startinga a yoga practice, this mat will get you started, but may not be what you want long term.
  • If price isn’t a concern: the Manduka Mat is another good choice.

Q: You mention having Yoga blocks and a Yoga strap. Where do I find those?
A: You can purchase from most big box store or online through Amazon.com. We’ve recommended some for you below

Q: Do I have to be flexible to try yoga?
A: No. However, if you stick with yoga, you will become more flexible. You will also notice that some of your aches and pains will start to disappear. If your hips are tight, the strain will affect the alignment of your thighs and your shin bones-which can create strain through your knee joints.… even the health of your feet  and toes play a role in how you walk and move through every day life.

Q: When I am seated, my back tends to round and I have a hard time stacking my shoulders on top of knees. Is there anything I can do to help with this?

A: Yes! You can always sit on a Yoga Block. I also like to sit on a thick bath towel or a Yoga Blanket.

Q: What if I have never tried Yoga before?
A: You are in the perfect place! We begin with the basics in our Essential series. Teaching the actions to practice Yoga safely, and from your own home. The poses you learn are the same you would learn if you were to visit a live Yoga Studio.

Q: How do I join?
A: You can join by clicking our Subscribe page.

Q: And is there a limit to how often I can practice with each video?
A: No, you will have unlimited access to each video, for the duration of your subscription.

Q: What if I have had a hip replacement or any major surgery?
A: Modifications are always offered. However, with any major surgery, and/or if you are new to Yoga–always move slowly through the poses. Use the yoga blocks underneath your hands, to help bring the floor up to you. This will allow you to safely learn the poses, without putting your body into possibly risky positions. If you feel any acute pain, back out of the pose, and return to a previous pose.

Participants still need to practice with the guidelines the Doctors and Physical Therapists prescribed post surgery and rehabilitation. For example, after a hip replacement, crossing your legs isn’t recommended, so choose the modifications given in the Essential Series to give you the knowledge to practice intelligently for your body. Instead of sitting cross legged, please choose to sit on your shins, with a block underneath you bum (SIT Bones), or with a blanket/block underneath your bum with legs more straight. This will allow you to complete the work of seated poses, without compromising your hip(s).Safe is always the most intelligent option! Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Q: What if I am still not sure of my form in each posture, but I don’t live any where near a Yoga studio to be sure?
A: We do offer One Plus One Sessions. A One on One session (via Skype) will allow Regina to keep an eye on your form as you move through different poses, offering feedback as you practice.

Q: I love more vigorous types of fitness classes and activities. Why should I add Yoga to my workout plan?
A: Yoga is the perfect cross training tool. It allows you to continue to build strength, flexibility and increase your stamina in other sports. A consistant practice will decrease your risk of injury as well as speed up your recovery time. We have a video series (in the works) that is designed just for you!

Q: I am training for an endurance event, will yoga be a good investment of my time?A: Yes! As mentioned in the question above, yoga will decrease your risk of injury, as well as speed up your recovery time. Also, by taking time to practice yoga, you will notice possible descrepencies in areas of muscular strength and flexibility within your body. This knowledge is invaluable in your training for long distance events! If you desire to really zero in on some of your weaknesses, One Plus One Sessions are always available.
